Course Description:
The second year of PCCMT’s Massage Therapy program builds on the foundational knowledge developed in Year 1 and focuses on advanced clinical assessment, therapeutic treatment planning, and professional practice skills. Students develop the clinical reasoning required to assess client presentations and deliver safe, effective care.
During Year 2, students study:
- Advanced orthopedic assessment and clinical testing
- Evidence-informed treatment planning
- Remedial care and therapeutic treatment approaches
- Advanced pathology and clinical considerations
- Research literacy and the application of current evidence to practice
- Advanced muscle palpation and anatomical identification
- Clinical documentation and professional communication
Students continue treating members of the public in PCCMT’s supervised Student Clinic throughout the year. This ongoing clinical experience allows students to integrate assessment findings, treatment planning, and professional communication while gaining experience working with a variety of client presentations.
Year 2 learning continues to be delivered through a combination of:
- Online academic study
- In-person classroom instruction
- Supervised clinical practice in the PCCMT Student Clinic
By the end of the program, students have developed the clinical competence, professional judgment, and practical experience required to prepare for regulatory board examinations and entry into professional practice as a Registered Massage Therapist.
