About PCCMT
Pacific Coastal College of Massage Therapy (PCCMT) is a member of Health and Wellness Colleges of Canada (HWCC) and sister school of the Alberta College of Massage Therapy (ACMT), which was founded in 2001. PCCMT offers an inspired, flexible learning approach.
Current PCCMT students are using either the Labour Mobility Pathway or the Prior Learning Assessment pathway to become Registrants of the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia. Click here to learn more – https://www.cmtbc.ca
Under the Labour Mobility pathway, students who are successful will then register to the college of the examination, as an out-of-province applicant, complete the jurisprudence course and then apply to CMTBC. PCCMT covers the students cost of flights, accommodation and provide a per diem for food expenses, as a stipend, upon confirmation of their enrolment to write the out-of-province exams.
These travel costs are on average $1400 and is covered by PCCMT. The Massage Registration costs whether taken in British Columbia or Out-of-Province are at the expense of the student and varies between $1200 – $1800.

Our Mission
To Passionately Educate Canada’s Next Generation of Health Care Professionals.
Our History
The very first HWCC campus was opened in Grande Prairie with the original name of Prairie Massage Training. This initial campus was opened by the Founding Principal Ed Mooney. Ed was a Registered Massage Therapist. To this day the college has kept that tradition alive: all faculty and the present Director are Registered Massage Therapists with many years of experience in practice.
From the original Grande Prairie campus, Ed decided to follow the growing call for more campus locations within Alberta. He proceeded to open doors in Lloydminster, Edmonton, Fort McMurray and Calgary over the next few years. He changed the name from Prairie Massage Training to Alberta Massage Training. Locations were rented from universities and other higher learning facilities.
In early 2015 Ed decided to retire and pass the business along to new owners. This brought many changes to Alberta Massage Training.
The school was renamed ‘Alberta College of Massage Therapy’, which was a more accurate representation of the services provided by administration and faculty. As Ed stepped out of his role as Director, Dawn Sharman stepped in. Dawn had been instructing with Alberta Massage Training and was already familiar with the curriculum being offered. Janet Mwamburi, a longtime instructor and RMT and MOT, is now the director of the college. After operating successfully in Alberta for 20 years, ACMT expanded West to bring inspired, flexible learning to British Columbia with the Pacific Coastal College of Massage Therapy (PCCMT).
Over the following years ACMT established dedicated campuses all over Alberta: Calgary, Red Deer, Edmonton, Lloydminster, Grande Prairie, and Fort McMurray. Student Clinics were also established – spaces where ACMT students could practice on members of the public under the supervision of a Registered Massage Therapist. Finally, ACMT expanded to British Columbia as the Pacific Coastal College of Massage Therapy.
Over the years, the college has undergone many improvements. From overhauling the curriculum to match the Standards of Education for regulated to provinces to launching an online student resource portal, improvement happened at every level!
Moving forward, PCCMT is dedicated to educating safe, confident, ethical, and effective massage therapists.
